What camera to buy??? Advice please.
I need a good digital camera for travelling to an undeveloped country in Central Asia. I have decided on a camera that uses rechargable lithion ion batteries. Now which one to choose as all seem to have good and bad reviews. Could some of you please make a recommendation using the following criteria:.

1) Small and light, with a small and light battery charger. The smaller and lighter the better, but with the following qualities also.2) Dependable and problem free.3) Good quality images in stills and video for day and night shots.4) User friendly. I don't want to learn any manual controls.5) Has a battery charger that will work on 220 volts, 50 cycle..

Thanks in advance for your help...

The Fujifilm F30/F31 has one of the best battery life I know. It has a a very simple interface so going around it's options should not be a pain, and for your peace of mind it has auto mode. Really don't know about the energy input. Manual show this specifications:.

Power Supply AC 100V to 240V,50/60Hz.

Rated Input Capacity13W (U.S.A. and Canada)0.08A to 0.2A (other countries).

Rated Output DC 5.0V 1.5A.

Temperature During Use0C to +40C (+32F to +104F).

Dimensions(MAX.)40 mm 21 mm 79 mm(1.6 in. 0.8 in. 3.1 in.)(W H D).

Mass (Weight) Approx. 110 g (3.9 oz.)(excluding power cord).

In Europe you could look at the Ricoh R5, but for obscure reasons they don't sell them in the US...

It all depends on who responds to your posting.Everyone will recomend a different camera...

But I claim neutral observer status as I don't own an R5 (I know someone who does) and simply suggested an option that seems to tick a lot of the boxes..

Some smaller cams:.

Fuji f30 - very good for low light shots, not the smallest. the f40 is smaller and still very good. only 3x zoom though..

Ricoh r6 - quite good IQ, wide angle, 7x zoom, quiet small.

Sony t100 - great bunch of features (3" LCD, 5x zoom also useable in videos) and great IQ..
