There are tons of cheap generics like this one. They're uniformly bad..
You're better off with a cellphone camera the picture quality is at least as good *and* you can use it to make phone calls..

Forget about it and look at a known name brand camera instead unless you want to be disappointed. Start by searching the camera reviews here..
Mark..
Thanks,.
The Fujifilm Finepix F20 has recently caught ym eye, and it is within my acceptable price range. Am just hoping ti is not too huge. Seems to review well as well...
It's shirt-pocket compact, if not credit-card compact. If you want really slim, check out the Casio Exilims..

Hi,.
Would that camera suit my needs. It also appears the only major difference in size of the models is about 5mm in length (according to manufacturer specs?)..
Which one? The F20 or one of the Exilims?.
I have a Fuji F30 myself, and am overall very happy with it; the image quality is best in class and it has no really significant shortcomings for what it is. I don't have nor have I ever had one of the Casios, so I can't really speak for them. However, from the reviews I've read, they appear to be very respectable cameras..
Basically, I think you'd do OK with just about anything from any of the major brands that's small enough for you to take along. The competition is cutthroat, which means that there are no real dogs in that class; all of them are a bit different with their unique strengths and weaknesses, but if you're new to this sort of thing you won't know enough of your own needs to be able to make an informed decision about them. So you can't go terribly badly wrong with any of them..
I'd suggest you visit a bricks-and-mortar store and ask to handle some of the ones you're interested in; then pick one that "feels right" and fits your budget. Pay special attention to size and responsiveness the former is especially important for a casual shooter who will leave a bulky camera home, and the latter makes the difference between getting the shot and missing it..

Went to try out an F20 today, apparently that (and the F30!) are now discontinued..
I am not too interested in the F40 (price point). I can pick up some F20's & F30's online for a similar price point - there appears to be mixed reviews as to which is better..
The F470 also appears good and within my price range, but that is apparently an older, lower grade model that is, at times, very slow?..
The F20 is a slightly downgraded version of the F30. The lens, sensor, and processor are the same, but the feature set is slightly different. So if the price is the same, obviously the F30 would be better value. The F30 has been replaced by the F31FD and F40; AFAIK there is no replacement for the F20..

Isn't the F40 a replacement for the F20? The F31fd is an upgrade to the F30 but the feature set of the F40 is definitely a downgrade from the F30 or F31fdit looks much more like the F20..
Tommy..
The F40 has an 8.2 MP sensor while the F30/31/20/11/10 has a 6 MP one. That would make it an upgrade for most people..
