I'm sure it's a FAQ, but I could not find in at the glossary page. What is LBA and VPN?.
LBA is somewhat ambiguous, in the absence of context... if we're talking about hard disk geometries, for instance, it might mean 'logical block addressing'. On the other hand, it might mean 'lens-buying addiction'....
VPN, again, is meaningful within the computer domain as in 'virtual private network'. For instance, some companies provide remote access to their local networks through VPN software which has the client computer encrypt and route all it's outgoing traffic through a company-controlled server, for a relatively secure connection...
LBA is Leeds Bradford intenational airport, which is a good airport to land at if you are going to northern England to take photographs..
VPN iwas the pro-production name for the "neutral" version of VPS and VPS, two Kodakl portrait films. VPN was never produced, and instead Porta NC was introduced to the market. Great film..
Glad to help with such an important, well phrased, and usefull question from you..

Hi guys,.
Thanks for your help and sorry for not providing details about the context of these terms. It was obviously digital photo related context. Therefore I'll have to filter out the "Louisiana Bankers Association", "Logical block addressing" and other very usefull contributions to my question..
Anyway I was under impression that LBA/VPN are so common (see links below) terms that no more details were required..

I see from Leejay's reply that LBA means Lens Buying Addicton, thanks for the tip..
As for the VPN, I still have no idea of what that means on dpreview..
BestAlex..
In the context of this forum "VPN" stands for "Vertical Pattern Noise", allegedly a Pentax DSLR issue. I believe you have correctly translated "LBA" as "Lens Buying Addiction."..
In terms of the Pentax DSLR forum, "LBA" is "lens-buying addiction", while "VPN" is "vertical pixel noise", a type of imaging problem encountered in dark environments at very high ISO settings...
