Maybe because they're the same questions, over and over? This site has a search facility (which is somewhat unreliable, I'll allow), but it seems that most users are either too lazy or too stupid to use it. It gets very wearing typing out the same reply to the same question 3 times a week..

If you had cared to click on other threads in the Beginners Forum you would have discovered your assertion is incorrect. Most posts are answered within the hour. But it does depend upon what hour you post. No idea where you reside but most people in the US would be asleep and those in Western Europe at work at the time of your original post..

Gee. I look down several screens worth of Beginners Questions in this section of DPR, and everyone of them is NOT ignored..
The ones that get little response are usually the really dumb ones, where not enough info is supplied imagine if you can a whiney posting about messages being ignored but lacking an example..
Over in the specific camera threads, those few beginenr messages that get low responses most get good replies are almost always incomplete messages, or arrogant messages, or messages not written in understandable words, or messages jammed into one long single paragraph with no capital letters, or questions that are already in the forum, visible with a little scrolling, or messages with so many questions that anyone attempting to answer would need an hour to go through the whole list..
Or, like the message I'm wasting time on here, we think they just might be a troll trying to stir up trouble..
BAK..
The answers so far sum things up very well..
Take note..

It was posted in the middle of the night in the homes of most forum members in North America; seems to me it was posted after most Europeans have gone to bed, too..
Which leaves the Asians to answer..
And the question was still too vague ..
BAK..
I was perhaps a bit hasty - sorry guys!! What prompted was others who had left threads after me getting answers but mine and some others didn't but I see that I have opened a can of worms so apologise to all here..

I would guess that it is mostly "beginners" who read and post on this forum..
Any more experienced photographers are either doing it from the goodness of their heart or to show off what they know!.

Ha ha that is funny..
To the OP, there are a lot of pros and advanced users who check this forum, but when you see a post titled "which dslr should I buy?" or "what is the best point & shoot?" over and over it gets very tiresome and I usually pass over them..
If I see a post with specific subject matter where I can offer helpful input, I do respond if I have the time..
With regards to search not working a lot of the time, yes, that's a bad thing. However there are page numbers on the archives, and even paging through a few quickly reveals the repeat posts..
If you take a little bit of time to research and post a good question, you will get a good answer, in fact probably many..

I agree with many of the posters here.In my short time at DPR I have answered many of the same questions over and over again.Like which camera to which lens and after awhile it gets old.I'm not even here a year and I never posted a question.Another thing to think of if someone post something I agree with or I think another poster comments are dead on I most likely will not respond thinking they covered it and I have no need to add to the thread...
I am new to all this. New to this site, new to photography, new to it all. So I haven't replied to anyone mainly because I dont know what you experts on here know... yet .... I will one day because I have my mind set I will not stop til I get it..
But what I do know is it is nice to hear back from you experts that know what you are talking about. Some people have said that it gets old hearing the same old thing over and over. And that people should read the other post. Well sometimes people may do that and it not really answer their question or things could be off a little. I know I read through a lot of them before I posted my question. There was a good many close to what I wanted to know but not exactly..
I would just like for everyone to think back to when you first started before you knew what you do now. I'm sure you would have loved for anyone to answer your questions to care enough to stop and listen and pass on advice. I'm sure it wasnt the first time they had answered the same questions. I know people on here take the time to answer because you care because you are nice people. Even if someone said what you were going to say, it wouldn't take 1min to type ..."my thoughts exactly" or just something. If someone had 10 people saying the same thing to an answer chances are that person is going to know..
I understand it gets old typing the same old thing but just think about how you could be helping someone that could really use your knowledge. I think it would be worth it knowing that I helped someone out. I don't think any of you would be on here if you didn't want to help..
Well thats just my thoughts , griffin..
I'm really new too but one thing I have learned is that most questions I have can be answered better then if I asked (because since I am a beginner, I don't know everything I need to ask anyway and a lot of threads that touch on my subject of interest have more info that I would have needed but wouldn't have asked) through the search function or just being a fly on the forum wall...Heather..
You may need to get used to the idea that you can't just snap your fingers and get immediate answers, particularly when from the question itself it is clear you did not bother to do any prior research yourself...

A truly stupid post, perhaps you should go back to your studies and limit your forum involvement until you have gained more maturity..

Yes, I realised my mistake quite early on and have, in fact, posted my apologies...
