Hey,.
Is Crystal optics a decent brand filter? I am looking for a circularpolarizing filter, particularly on ebay (because it's cheap) and washoping someone could give me some pointers. Any advice would begreatly appreciated..
Thanks,.
John.
Crystal is cheap Russian junk. It is cheap. But just do yourself a favor and don't..
Hoya, B+W, Heliopan.....preferably in the multicoated version in each brand.Hoyas tend to be the least expensive..

OK, thanks so much for the advice. I will be sure to stay away from crystal optics. I did see hoyas on ebay, hopefully I can get a good deal..
Thanks again,.
John..
A good, multicoated circular polarizer should run you about $35-45 depending on the size you need. Make sure you buy a filter for the largest size lens you have, and then add a step down ring to fit it on the small lenses..

Great, thanks for the tip! Beautiful pictures by the way...
Some cameras use different polarizers.. what are you shooting?.
Just check the cameras site for recomendations. I use a L1 which does not support thesame types as say Canon....Tom in Yorba Linda..
Nikon D50,.
The two lenses I own are the Tamron 70-300mm (62mm) and the stock Nikon 18-55mm (52mm) lens. I was looking for a moderately priced 62mm circular polarizer....
Thanks for your help, I will be sure to check out your site..

I've used the following company with good results. They're out of Hong Kong so I was initially reluctant to try them. However after reading a number of positive comments on dpreview I went ahead and made an order. Their prices are the lowest I've found but it does take awhile for the package to arrive from Hong Kong..
Http://hvstar.netThey sell a lot on ebay. They also go by the following names:MaxSaver ~ besteastern ~ hkdirect ~ hvphoto..
