Look it up in the yellow pages. See if you can pick up some small pieces.Larry Bermanhttp://BermanGraphics.com..
Check your local yellow pages for a glass supplier. They can usually custom cut you any size of any thickness you need, and probably cheaper than paying for shipping...
Are these sheets of plexiglass intended as backgrounds, or as light diffusers? For a background, you may want to use foam core, obtainable from artist's supply stores, as it is fairly matte and has very low reflectance. You can get 1/8" thick plastic from TAP Plastics if you want something translucent. Neither one of these materials is expensive..

Thank you for the suggestion of TAP Plastics. There happens to be a store within 30 miles. I'll go down there next week..
I'm looking for the acrylic mostly as a base of small objects. I want to play around with the reflections. Also I think acrylic might be a better base than using white foam board. I want to see if it reflects more light than using foam board..
Alternatively I'd like to use the sheets of acyrlic as a diffuse. I'll test this next week and see how it work.D80, Tamron 28-75..
I purchased mine at Lowes Home Improvement store in a 4'x6' size (about that, standard on the shelf size). I also had them cut some to the sizes I wanted fora small fee-call in advance to make arrangements and make sure your home improvement store can do it..
See my pbase site below in the Still Life Gallery for some samples. I only have clear and use colored foamboard or fabric inderneath for a different color if I want to change it out..
It does scratch easily. So I have felt that I cut to fit under objects that I place on the plexi or use blue painters tape-small pieces so it won't show up in the final image.ckbBe kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.visit my sites at http://www.photographybychris.netand at http://www.pbase.com/ckb..
I went to Home Depot - they must have a similar selection of plexiglass that Lowe's has..
I was thinking about the same idea as you. Place a colored piece of foam board under the clear plexiglass. Here is one picture I did tonight with a white foam board under the plexiglass. I'll try black next..

Chris - How did you get the border for your sea shell photographs? I really like the look. Did you add the frame in pp..
Also, I took a look at your website. The pictures of your surgery/recovery are very special.D80, Tamron 28-75..
Looks like you have a winner with your plexiglass. I forgot I have also found smaller pieces at craft stores..
I made the border/frames in photoshop. You can see this image at the bottom for instructions. Follow up with adding bevel edges and drop shadows. There are also some very nice free frames/matts here http://atncentral.com/download.htm I really like Mike Warren's frame actions. Thanks for looking at my site and kind comments.ckbBe kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.visit my sites at http://www.photographybychris.netand at http://www.pbase.com/ckb..
I am a museum director, and we use lots of plexiglass and foam core in exhibits. We buy ours from a local lumber yard. If they don't have the exact kind I want, they order it for us. Good luck..
