On-line Vendors, Recommendations?
I will be upgrading from a 35mm to digital SLR and need recommendations of on-line vendors. The camera needs to be delivered within the next 10 days so I'm trying to find a reliable vendor that won't yank me around...

B&H Photo Video, Adorama, Beach Camera, BuyDig.com are all good. Check all places you are considering athttp://www.resellerratings.com.

Good shooting,.

Thanks Gene..

I had been looking at Ebay vendors but some of the feedback is scary. Buyers stating their camera didn't arrive for 2 weeks or the wrong model arrived or the order was canceled because the camera was out of stock..

I just want to place the order and expect it to arrive within 7-10 days or less..

Yes I agree with the venders you have posted. I and some of my friends have ordered from Buydig with no problems. Using resellerratings is a good tool to check out sights,..

Looks like you are steering away from eBay, which is probably a good thing..

Personally, I do not understand why consumers go to eBay as if it were a reputable merchant..

For oddball, inexpensive, needle in a haystack type products, eBay is often the only source. But for camera gear and accessories, which are generally big ticket items, nothing beats the reputable, knowledgeable and competitively priced online mercants (B&H, Adorama, others)...

My uncle ordered a camera for me from BeachCamera.com. It was delivered within 3 days (regular postage, didn't pay extra for faster delivery or anything). Excellent online shopping!..

Some of the resellers on ebay are very reputable, Cameta Camera for one. Another is Cord Camera, Henry's, and quite a few others. My humble photo gallery: http://ntotrr.smugmug.com.

Sigh. And those such as Adorama and Cameta who use eBay. IIRC, 17th St. Photo is supposed to be good, and they have an extensive eBay presence..

EBay is NOT a merchant...at least not a retailer. It sells a particular sales method for other retailers..

Another point: if you don't look, how can you tell whether or not there's anything worthwhile there?.

I've ordered from nearly every retailer mentioned here ( B&H Photo Video, Adorama, Beach Camera, BuyDig.com , recently 17th Street photo, and yes even Cord an Comenta on ebay) at one time or another. I have had good experiences with all of them. If you stick to that group and just go with whoever gives you the best price you will probably not be sorry..

Thanks to everyone that took time to post a reply. It's nice to be a beginner and not get flamed on my first posting!.

I do almost 90% of my on-line shopping on Ebay with good results. However some of the feedback comments about some of the vendors made me concerned. That's why my posting about other on-line vendors if there were better or worse..

I have placed an order and will see how well this vendor sticks to their promise of the item being in stock and shipment on Friday (7-6-07)..
