If you are thinking of the Sony, you have to look at the Pentax K10D...
Pick up the cameras and give them a feel. That's about the best way to make a decision. Any dslr will yeild excellent results but if you get one that isnt comfortable in your hands you'll be dissapointed. I wouldn't limit myself to 2 choices when there's so many great cameras out there..

That would be good going since there are only two possibilites .
The advice to pick then up and have a play is exactly right, the feel in your hand and how the controls fall under your fingers is important... like the difference between a well-fitting and poorly-fitting pair of shoes. On paper the D80 is clearly better, but see how they feel - and try the Pentax K10D also as a previous poster suggested. (Now there are three possible answers...)Mike..
Get the Tamron f2.8 90mm macro lens for it and I see no reason at all why you should not get the Sony and enjoy all of the anti-shake benefits. I love that lens on my KM 5D on which the Sony is based..
Only go Canon /Nikon if you have Canon/Nikon legacy lenses or if you want to build up equipment for professional use so that you can go like-with-like against other pros in the market place..

Sony is a nice format body just like the Nikon. Sony's got antishake which is a nice to have. Nikon has a lovely flash system, D80 will give you remote flash with the SB600 and 800..
Go and play with both!.
In any case, the tamron 90mm 2.8 is an interesting option.Don't wait for the Nikon D-whatever, have fun now!http://www.flickr.com/photos/j_wijnands/..
And a couple of very nice Oly macro lenses as well as the Sigma 105 and 150 macros available..

Hi, I have one simple question...NIKON D80 or SONY A100??YES, the nikon is a bit expensive according to the sony but, I thinkit has better features and better ranking on the internet...This is my first digital SLR camera, and I really don't know what tobuy, one group of people say sony, another canon the third nikon....By now I should bought the nikon but there is one thing that I can'tdecide, Sony with image stabilisation or nikon without it ( becauseafter buying the nikon body I should spend a lot of money on lenseswith image stabilisation, and with sony I don't)Keep in mind that I will shoot macro photography.... so a good lensescan be suggested for sony and nikon....Thanx.
