Looking for a decently cheap point and shoot for my upcominghoneymoon (and beyond, given my standard replacement time). Whilemost of the pics will probably be quick shots I'm also looking forsomething that can take decent set-up shots (landscapes, nightshots, etc)..
Currently using an old coolpix 3100. So far I've narrowed it downto the Panasonic DMC LZ7 and the Canon A630. Panasonic has somenice features and it sounds like the noise issues they've had havebeen somewhat resolved. Then again, everyone I know who has acanon swears by them and the image quality sounds a bit better..
As an aside, also wondering if I would be much better off droppingan extra hundred dollars and grabbing a DMC TZ3 or an SD 800ISinstead..
Thanks in advance..
All the cameras you mentioned have their pros/cons, and I think one could be happy with any one of the above. So it boils down on your particular preference and priority of features... The TZ3 has the fun factor and 28-280eq lens, the SD800IS is part of a long line of successful SD/Ixus/Ixy models, the A630 has a bigger 1/1.8" sensor, and the LZ7 packs a 6x MegaOIS lens..

Canon A710IS (7MP, 6x zoom with I.S., Manual Modes, OVF, AA Batt) is bang for the bucks..

TZ3's USPs are it's wide-angle and 10x zoom with I.S., but no manual modes/OVF. If you can live without these features than great value..
SD800IS is ultra-compact (so easier to carry around) with wide-angle , I.S., OVF. IQ is good. No manual modes though. My choice would be this.Regards, Ajayhttp://picasaweb.google.com/ajay0612..
Check out Panny....I have an LZ3, LZ5 and LS70. I keep them in my cars, computer bags, etc.....and they are awesome. Images Stabilization is great. My 4yr old uses the LS70 it's so good and easy to use. The LZ2 is also one I got for my parents who are in their upper 70's and tend to not be as steady either. Color is great right from the camera..
Here are some Panny shots I've taken in my normal course of life..

I think you'd be much better off with a Canon A710IS than a Panasonic LZ7. But the Panasonic TZ3 on the other hand may be worth the extra money if you fancy a wide angle lens and a 10x zoom, two things you would probably find very useful.Androohttp://Androo.smugmug.com..
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I went to the stores and played around with a few of em. Actually ended up going with a Canon S3, which I was able to get at a decent price reduction since the s5 has come out. About the same price as the TZ3, but I liked the overall package a bit better, despite the miserably small display .
I'll post pics once I start shooting...
