I was leaning toward buying the Cannon G7 and then I read it has ahorrible red-eye problem. I noticed the s5is does have a correctionfor this problem, but resolution isn't as high on the movie mode.I also like to shoot with a wide angle lens and I would like a camerathat I can add lens.Thanks.
Any other makes or models to consider? I would appreciate any advice..

Sounds like you need a dSLR with a good automatic mode and an external flash. Red is due to the proximity of the flash to the lens, it isn't just a Canon G7 problem. The further you can move the flash abovc the camera, the less the chance of red-eye..

What do you think between the G7 and the S5 IS?..
S5IS allows zooming during movies. It also allows you to take a full resolution shot while making movie clips. Swivel LCD also helps in shooting.G7 does not ahve above features.Red-eye can be avoided by using red-eye-reduction mode of flash..

Yes. It is clear you need two cameras and a separate flash..
The still camera you need is an SLR type for it's rapid shooting and low light capability. Unfortunately, dSLRs do not shoot movies.... [Sometimes we can't have exactly what we want.]Regards,Baz..
And take a look at the new panasonic lumix fz18. Sounds like just what you are looking for.LG..
