need slr like camera with good video,no red eye and continuous fast shutter g7?
Hi,.

I love photography and video, but don't like to change aperture etc. I want everything automatic. I use to work as a film producer so I have a pretty picky eye. Now I have two babies, 18 months and newborn and don't want to mess around with a difficult camera..

It is so important that the camera acts like an SLR with a very quick continuous mode so when babies are moving I don't miss the shot..

It must have great night pictures and a great movie mode as film was my business and I am sick of carrying around my bulky documentary video camera..

ALSO everyone in my family has blue eyes and every picture always has red eye..

I was leaning toward buying the Cannon G7 and then I read it has a horrible red-eye problem. I noticed the s5is does have a correction for this problem, but resolution isn't as high on the movie mode..

I also like to shoot with a wide angle lens and I would like a camera that I can add lens.Thanks.

Any other makes or models to consider? I would appreciate any advice...

Sounds like you need a dSLR with a good automatic mode and an external flash. Red is due to the proximity of the flash to the lens, it isn't just a Canon G7 problem. The further you can move the flash abovc the camera, the less the chance of red-eye..

What do you think between the G7 and the S5 IS?..

S5IS allows zooming during movies. It also allows you to take a full resolution shot while making movie clips. Swivel LCD also helps in shooting.G7 does not ahve above features.Red-eye can be avoided by using red-eye-reduction mode of flash..

Yes. It is clear you need two cameras and a separate flash..

The still camera you need is an SLR type for it's rapid shooting and low light capability. Unfortunately, dSLRs do not shoot movies.... [Sometimes we can't have exactly what we want.]Regards,Baz..
