Lumix DMC-FZ8 vs PowerShot S3 IS vs FinePix S6000fd
Hi,.

I previously created a thread for deciding between Nikon D40 and PowerShot S3 IS. This thread is in helping me decide between Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8, Fujifilm FinePix S6000fd and Canon PowerShot S3 IS. This is what I will be using my camera for in order of priority:.

- Outdoor scenic pictures- Indoor pictures- Pictures of items to be sold on Ebay like phones, jewelery and clothes.- Indoor pictures of family members- Outdoor pictures of family members- Low light scenic pictures (e.g caves, rain forest).

From what I have understood FZ8 has bad Noise Reduction handling especially at ISO 400+, S6000fd does not have image stabilization and PowerShot S3 IS does not have RAW mode and seems to have some noise problems as well..

So for my needs which camera is the best bet? I would love to hear from people who own these cameras and have used them for similar things that I will be using them..

Thanks again for your help!..

For your requirements all of them will produce good quality photos under the condition you describe. Roll dice. My personal choices would be Kodak Z712, Z612 and the Canon S3. If I had to shoot amateur sports at night the Fuji S6000FD would move to the front..

I suspect I've taken about 200 pictures with my Z612 since you started your first thread...

I was torn between the very same cameras. Then I found this site:.

It allows you to plug in any camera and compare IQ with any other camera under various conditions and shooting various kinds of scenes..

It made the decisicoin much easier...I ended up with a Fuji s6000..

Hi DWFII,.

It made the decisicoin much easier...I ended up with a Fuji s6000.

And are you happy with S6000?..

I own a Canon S3 and bought a Fuji S6000 a few months later. Since then I've barely used the S3 and absolutely love my S6000. Only thing that bothers me is the continuous shooting speed on the Fuji compared to the Canon. Plus the S6000 is about $250 after a $50 rebate online which is incredible...

If you own DMC-FZ8 do you find noise to be a problem?..

I am an FZ8 owner and am very happy with it. I have not had noise problems. The problem isn't that there is noise it is the way the noise is dealt with. For the most part users on this forum turn the noise reduction to low..

If you are trying to do all the low light stuff with no flash you will end up in the world of high ISOs. Image stabalization is very good and allows for some pretty low shutter speeds (doesn't help a moving subject) and the flash does a good job..

My flower macros and April in Arizona galleries are FZ8. Sorry there aren't a lot of people shots in my public galleries..

Hi TEBnewyork,.

I went to the store today held the FZ8 in my hands and good feel of it. Overall, I feel this camera will be good enough for my needs it is small, nice and compact. Your picture galleries were very helpful in my decision..

Do you have any pictures taken in low light? Do any of the FZ8 owners have any pictures taken in low light?.

Thanks..
