Looking for teaching resources
Hi, everybody..

I'm crossposting this on a forum or two, because I wasn't sure where the best place to post would be..

I'm hoping you can help me out here. I am going to be teaching a photography/yearbook class for our local homeschool group. I know, given my great lack of knowledge, it's much like the blind leading the blind.  But, it's just meant to be a fun class, no one else was able to teach it, and I figure I really only have to know more than the kids do for them to get at least something out of it..

Can any of you point me toward some good resources for teaching the basics to these kids - something with structure and logical progression. It would be nice to have a starting point rather than writing everything up from scratch..

Any similar resources on photojournalism, interview techniques, copy writing and layout, etc. would also be welcomed. It's a lot different to do a thing than to teach it, and it would be really helpful to me to have some resources to at least give me a jumping off point in putting this class together. Thanks so much!~Tina.

As an art teacher I understand how difficult it may seem to get adequate teaching resources. Here is a site you may try as it has a wealth of material you can download in the form of tutorials:.

I hope you do well.Judy.

Hi Tina:.

I'm a teacher and researcher so I went looking just a bit, and found these links. The first is a good source that your local university library might have:.

"A Lesson Plan: Beginning Photography for Student Publications; Flash in Photography; Teaching Teachers How to Use Photography in Their Curriculum."Authors: Rickard, Billie Lou; And OthersCommunication: Journalism Education Today, v30 n2 p15-17 Win 1996.

An excerpt and lesson plan from that same author is here:.

These are other lesson plans:.

Here are more resources, and a good plan:.

Another curriculum:.

I hope you find these helpful! Have fun, and report back how it went!.

Best,.

Here is a book that teaches proper exposure, written by an educator. IMHO it succeeds in helping readers/students understand the underlying concepts through easily understandable analogies. Note: It is quite basic (primary school level). I hope it's not too basic for your audience (wasn't too basic for me  ).

Author: Farzad, Bahman.Title: Teach yourself the simplified Zone system of light measurement..

Thank you! I doubt it would be too basic. I'll do a search for that title..
