Learning Ressources
Hi there,.

I am new to DSLR world and I wanted to know what is the best ressource (book, ebook, online course) to learn this stuff :.

- In depth explanation of Aperture, Shutterspeed, Exposure, ISO, Focus, Polarizers, Light sources, Filters with examples (in color please).

- In Depth explanation of the digital image (File types, histogram, image quality, monitor calibration...).

- Explanation and ways to correct Fringing, Chromatic Aberration and common problems.

- If possible, tips and tricks about frequent shoot type (portrait, close-up, landscape, sports, etc...).

- Lenses (not that important but it would be great)An up to date descriptions of pros and cons of types of lenses. I own a D40 so if it's about Nikon only it's great.

The only books I have found are out of date books, no-illustrations book, or physicist book about diffraction and light stuff..

Oh and if the book is 1/3 about photoshoping images, I'm not THAT interested except if it's really cheap..

Thank you..

Gosh, this is a great listing of resources. Thank you everyone..

I enjoy my photography, but I dabble with my cameras. All for fun. I just try to capture the moment. I need to study more techniques and the equipment..

I have been told that I have a unique eye. I've been asked to shoot weddings..

I have been asked to do family portraits. I don't feel I am quite ready for those ventures, but perhaps one day..

I've just read the camera manuals and started experimenting. I try to shoot all sorts of photos at all sorts of settings..

Of course too, I will post questions to this wonderful group as I continue my learning by doing..

So with that said, I will take a look at some of this literature and try some things out..

Joual, remember to get to know your camera and play around with the settings so you know what does what. Take various photos and compare..

Joual,.

Previos posters gave you great list of articles. I just wanted to remind you that manual of your D40 is a Must Read, that I would read slowly and carefully. It's very good resource for novice in photography and advanced user who just bough this camera model.http://www.stan-pustylnik.smugmug.com..
