Is this a good price for a Canon Rebel?
$540 (CAD - equal to about $500 USD). It is for a used Canon 350D body only, in excellent condition. Is that a fair price?..

You can get one new from B&H for US$497, so it sounds a bit on the high side to me. Of course a lot depends on your local taxes..

There is no tax because it is a private sale. Also, keep in mind that I am in Canada and many places such as B&H do not ship to Canada, so my shopping options are limited, which means I may have to pay slightly more than US buyers...

B&H most certainly does ship to Canada. They ship anywhere. I'm in Finland and I've bought lots of stuff from them..

By the point about the taxes I meant that your local VAT and duty affect the price on the used market as well; for example in my country this adds about 30% on top of the US list prices..

Pricewise the 350D (Rebel XT) seems to be where the bang for the buck is among the Canons. As far as the actual price, usually a quick look at prices at some bellweathers (B&H, Adorama, J&R, Amazon, Circuit City, Best Buy, BuyDig on the deep discounter end) will get you a good feel of the current price range..

There's also the warranty issues to consider when purchasing a used one..

I agree. I would value 12 months warranty over the price difference..

I noticed you also discuss lenses in a nother thread. If you can pick up the 350D with the kit lens you will probably save a bit more as well...
