Is the D50 right for me?
Hi. I've been looking at the D40 and D50 for awhile now and decided the D50 would be best if I wanted to upgrade the body down the road. Now I need help deciding whether the D50 or 350D is right for me....

I will mostly be using this for automotive racing events to capture both cars in action and parked, capturing still life in the mountains, photography class, and just everyday pictures of the city and people. I will be shooting mostly during the day..

Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks in advance...

Both will do when you have the right lenses..

I think it's better to browse the forums (eg all canon and all nikon) for motoring sports pictures you like and you want to take too and write the used lens on a paper. Do the same for your other targets and In the end you will have a small list of lenses for each brand you might buy. Then check what each will cost you, the lenses and the body, and then you have your answer..

Don't be shocked when the price is too high, you don't need to buy them al at once..

Keep in mind that once you have a collection of lenses you will stick to that brand.Bair..

Hold 'm. See if you can shoot some test shots. Then, unless you're a person with very small hands, you'll end up buying the Nikon..

Will require a decent lens or two. kit lens and 70-300 VR would be a very nice combination on Nikon..

Don't wait for the Nikon D-whatever, have fun now!http://www.flickr.com/photos/j_wijnands/..

Which photo look do you prefer? I like the D50 better than the XT. Also, look at the K100D. Built in AS is a nice feature...

My D50 has very fast and accurate focusing including moving objects. Canon is known for excellent focus. Either will work. See if you can find a place where you can try both.Paul..

The thing is, a lot of the Nikon pictures I've seen seems to have a lot of noise. Is this just because those pictures are being shot at high ISOs or what?..

He has a D50, and shoots motor sport, and landscapes, and people....

Results are fine and dandy..

Main thing to remember is the D50 takes pretty much ALL the Nikon lenses..
