If I am shooting RAW overseas
And want to have my photos put on a disk so I can send them to friends, jsu the occassional one, will most photoshops be able to take my RAW data turn them into JPEGs and put them on a disk for me, or will I have to wait to do that until I get home and just shoot occasional JPEGs or RAW + JPEG?..

I doubt most places will be able to convert to JPG, although I don't have experience overseas. RAW+JPG may be the way to go, if you can spare the room (you can shoot at lowest quality JPG if needed)..

Overseas is a big place..

And overseas compared to where?.

Are you starting in Greenland, and going to the United States of America, Mexico and Peru?.

In most of overseas, it will be hard for someone to find a retailer that can perform this task. Lots of professional photographers could do it for you..

Short answer - no. Shoot RAW+JPEG, or JPEG with auto-bracketing if you must have JPEG..

Long answer - still probably no, but a maybe..

You can try bringing some software on a CD with you ( something like the free UFRaw or Cinepaint or similar ), so that if you can get access to a computer you can do a quick conversion. Not sure if that is an option for you, but it's worth a try. Don't bring any commercial software, because you'll violate your license..

Buy a Pentax and do the RAW>JPG conversion in the camera. .

But seriously though, is there any conversion software that can run from a USB-stick. I'm thinking of either using the SanDisk U3 technology (or similar). I also know that some colleagues at work were trying out a software that made it possible to run any software from a USB-stick, not just the ones that are specifically compatible, but ANY software. That software was not all too expensive either (can't remember the name, sorry). That might enable you to plug in the stick in a computer at an Internet caf, run the software and convert the images and send them. All without messing around with the computers setup at all, just as long as you can plug in a USB stick...
