How to get something in colour in a b/w pic?
I was wondering how is it possible to get something in colour in an overall b/w picture? I found an example of what I mean on the web:.

Is it done maybe with photoshop? Or is it something more complicated?.

Thanks a lot!.

In photoshop, select the area you want to be B&W and either reduce saturation to zero or use the chanel mixer to combine the colour chanels together into B&W...

Or, in Photoshop, create a duplicate layer then change to B&W. Then use the erasing tool to show the colour from the original layer below.D40 18-55mm & 55-200mm VRNikon S6 P&S.

This is one of many ways. Always best not to work on your orig file-make a copy. And add a dupe layer to work on.http://www.pbase.com/ckb/image/70885896ckbBe kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.visit my sites at http://www.photographybychris.netand at http://www.pbase.com/ckb..

With Canon P&S's you can do this in camera using my colours...

While everyone has given you good advice so far, maybe this little tutorial I wrote some time ago might help. It assumes you have Photoshop or something similar, but even if you don't it may help you understand how it's done..

If you select colour accent from the menu, point the camera at a colour you want to keep on the photo and press a button(can't remember if it's menu or set), and then press the shutter button, only that colour will appear on the photo, the rest of it will be black and white, you can also swap colours using colour swap...

I made this one several years ago (about 7), using Coral photopaint. Photoshop can be used in just the same way..

I used the lasso tool to select the daisies, then feathered it a little. I then just inverted the selection and desaturated the selection. Dead easy..

I still had to mess around a little with contrast etc, but that was no problem too..
