How much to charge for pictures/labour
Hello, recently I have been getting some people asking me to take pictures for them for various situations, personal use advertising ect, they have all offered to pay me for my time however I have no idea how much to charge as this is the first time it has happened..

The most recent Job I did I spent about 3 hours total over two trips taking pictures and then around 3 hours editing time, and ended up handing over 33 pictures, 14 of which are HDR and very worked in PS ect..

I am not a professional by any means, but feel that I handed over a reasonable standard of pictures, they will be used for advertising in magazines..

Any suggestions as to what I should charge?..

I forgot to mention, I live in Australia, so AUS$ would be helpful, cheers..

If you start charging for your work, you are a professional, by definition. Sorry..

I recently went through the same process. There may be differences re your tax situation. I decided to make it simple. There are two components to this: labor and physical product (prints). I priced them separately. I decided that my labor would be priced at $30/hr (US...you can convert to AUS).

Charley,.

Is there any way you can get a "quote" from a local pro over the phone? You can base your fee on that..

Mike.

Just starting out and having fun at it!.
