Help! Sony or SanDisk memory for H5 ?
I own sony H5 and I want to buy a memory, but got confused at the variety in prices , for exampe 4Gig SanDisk is a lot cheaper then 4Gig sony memory, is there any difference in performance, basically I just don't want to spend extra money just for the brand , I just want larger memory size , and faster saving files after shots.

Could some1 help!..

No difference in my opinion, just go for the Sandisk.Fuji Film S9100 (Arriving Soon)..

Appearantly it isn't just marketing. Just found this on a web site. There are 2 different disticnt Sony memory sticks. It was a post about fake sony sticks being sold on ebay but it points out the difference in model numbers for the Sony brands..

I also find on the SanDisk sells a high speed one as well..

All Genuine SONY Memory Sticks have exactly the following part numbers:-PRO series: 1GB (MSX-1GS), 2GB (MSX-2GS).PRO Duo Hi-Speed series: 1GB (MSX-M1GN), 2GB (MSX-M2GN), 4GB (MSX-M4GN).PRO Duo series (previous): 1GB (MSX-M1GST), 2GB (MSX-M2GS), 4GB (MSX-M4GS).PRO Duo series (current): 2GB (MSX-M2GS/X), 4GB (MSX-M4GS/X), 8GB (MSX-M8GS/X)..

Below are easily identifiable incorrect Sony part numbers, these are FAKE Sony!PRO Duo: 2GB (MSX-M2GST/X), 4GB (MSX-M4GST/X), 8GB (MSX-M8GST/X)...

Hmm... I don't have a sony, so I'm not sure. But from what I've seen, I don't believe that your camera actually takes SD cards. I thought that Sony uses a proprietary card. So you would need to buy from Sony..

I could be wrong though... Look in your manual. If under the memory, it says to use their card or an SD compatible card, then Sandisk would be fine..

Come to think of it, maybe you're wanting to use a MultiMedia compatible card... I don't know.   If you could post a link to the Sony card and the Sandisk card, it might be easier to tell...

If your looking for an alternative to MS (duopro?) have you looked at Lexar?.

Havent checked in a while but last time I bought Lexar instead, and I read it wasthe only brand officially supported by Sony, but not actually made by them..

Was heaps cheaper and still works (2-3yrs on!)..
