Help - Am torn - NikD80 vs Can30D vs PenK10D
I will be using this camera in central america for the next two years and am expecting some humid conditions. Plus some hard (am in the military) use..

I have been informed the Pentax K10D has environmental seals. Does this really make a difference with these high quality cameras? Unless you exppect rain/snow.

Would Nikon stand up as well to humidity?.

The Cannon has an alloy body. Is the 30D on it's last legs? Are plastics as good?.

Would the Nikon be a robust option - am leaning towards it...it seems more sorted than the other two..

If anyone can shed light on how these 3 might perform in such a harsh environment and which one is the best overall...then adivce would be useful..

THANKS.

Hugo..

A better (than Pentax K10D) bang for the buck - Its fraternal twin the Samsung GX-10:.

Love the price for this cam, but not worth it to me $-wise (currently use Canon) since I'd have to buy new lenses and everything else to go along with it..

Thanks for the advice guys.

After all that I plumped for the Nikon....

I know... sucker for the name.....

But having tried the pentax for a few hours, the Nikon felt better, somewhat subjective, but I think thats what it boils down to when comparing like with almost like!.

Thanks again..

Like the bionic man .

Canon also has a better selection of lenses (IMO) more of them with IS and currently you can get the 30D for the same as the D80..

It also has less noise at high ISO (I'm sure you're aware of that though)..

It's just an overall better camera than the D80 for the same price..

Congratulations on your new cam. I just so happen to use Canon gear, but I'm sure the Nikon D80 is a very fine camera..

Once one starts comparing cameras that are in the same image quality range (or ballpark) there's nothing wrong with choosing the camera that feels better (or seems more intuitive or has easier to navigate menus or has the lenses one wants, or whatever), since you're the one that's going to be using it for possibly thousands and thousands of images .

Good Day,Roonal.
