Too B&W for me..
Shildren are fun, happy and playful. Childhood for most parents is associated with bright memories..
It's too retro/classy/serious for me. I would try something more tender/colorful..

Boy is most adorable, by the way... And image has B&W/classy charisma..
However, it may not work for certain clients. If business-card printing is not too expensive, I would have different cards done for different type of clients..

I think that image is fantastic. It's different, and shows a child in a way you don't normally see them. To the OP's comment... no single image works for every client. To catch people's eyes, you have to separate yourself..
I think this image is perfect. I'd use it if I were you..
Life is what you make of it...
I think it would be great, with some nice understated typography..
True, some clients only want to see happy kids, but here you have somthing that will seperate you from the masses and maybe open a new market, the high end, rich private customers who are willing to pay more for something unique and exclusive..
By all measn do some 'normal' cards, but definitely have some of these made and try to find the right clients. If you can build a reputation for doing this kind of quality work, you could do quite well..

OH WOW! I love this! I have yet to see the proofs/ideas of the designer I have working on my cards but I am going to show your idea to them..
Fanfriggintastic..
Thanks for your input and time. Really..
Jennifer..
If it helps, the fonts I used were:.
Bell MT regularBell MT Italic.
They are both Open Type Fonts, from the Linotype Gold 1.6E Edition. Most design studios will probably have it or a similar one...
This is what we are going with. I'm so thrilled with it..

I think it is great. I liked the coloring a little better in the original, but the card works...
Seems to have lost a great deal of tonal range in the process?..
But my eyes are irremediably drawn to the stitching in the background next to the child's head...Just passing by.....
How do you get the card designer/printer to keep the photographer's quality in mind when printing volume?.

That's where the child ended up and where this particular shot got taken. The stitching doesn't bother me. But thank you for your input, much appreciated..

The child looks great, like all children usually do.can you remove the stitches of that leather sofa ? .
If the child is yours, you do not even need any written authorisation to use the shot...
I have a written release from the mom. The stitching could be removed, but I don't know how. It doesn't bother me. A new image is now taking shape for my card. What about this image instead? (Text quickly added - not a final card).

The girl looks lovely but, the boy's face could have shot a 100 years ago or yesterday.I can just see him in front of a wooden or brick wall of an old farmhouse or so.His face sort of conveys the idea you started photographing several ages ago.It is just those stitches in the wrong place.Oh, the typeface looks nice I believe...
The boy - I agree about the image being timeless. Its an incredible shot to me. I think both images have appeal. Would a card with two sides be okay? (pricey, yes) Showing some diversity? Some parents like the soft, happy, glowing child I show with the girl and some parents will really "get" that look I captured with the boy. Replies are so eagerly anticipated...

If you print the card as just B&W it will come out disappointing, I think it needs to have that warm tint in it... However, rather than simply printing it in 4 coulours (full-colour) I would consider having it done as a DuoTone instead. Would that be an option?..
I agree with Noah, I think it's perfect as well, provided the final image will also have that slight purple tinge to it. Will it?..
The typeface looks too gothic to me, and I prefered the pic of the boy over the girl, especially in warm purple monochrome you had before. The green one looked like it was taken in a morgue, sorry..
The original is still the best IMHO. I would remove the stitches though, which I did not notice at first but after it was mentioned became distracting. It's very easy to fix that in photoshop...
Thanks..

Not sure, but thanks to you I now know to ask. Many thanks..

Not exactly sure. Need to really get all my thoughts together and sift through all of the varied replies. Not going with the "morgue-green" though! LOL.

Really... she has the right to use the shot regardless of who's child it is. It's invaluable to educate yourself on your rights as a photographer. It always amazes me the misunderstandings people have regarding the first amendment..
