Where do you get software to download CCD RAW pics to computer..
Im a film SLR/darkroom guy from way back and can assure the rest of those like me out there that this fits the bill you need; without the case and 4 lenses to lug around. Thank GOD for technology, hmm? Photos shot on the 5200 are very sharp and thanks to the essential RAW feature very manipulative using the Adobe CS2 software that I own. If you own CS2 and need a camera this one is probably the best bang for the buck. Another issue that I normally dont care about has come up with this camera. People give me complements about it. I guess they think it's a $1000 SLR or something.
XD is an issue but I bought a 1 GIG card for $60 TOTAL online delivered is that too much?! This camera is a nice choice if you dont mind carrying a rather large camera body around your neck all day. Its quite light for it's size so weight is not a concern. This camera pairs quite well with the Olympus SP-350. You can see my SP-350 coupon (also posted here) for a full description of my Digital Photography solution for the next few years..
I am interested in knowing the capacity and limits of the FUJI S5200. Does it have an antishake feature? I have a Konika Minolta Z3 and have been VERY happy with it's antishake feature and it's macro and supermacro feature. My college daughter is into photography and wants a good all around camera that can do macro and supermacro. In the test comparison photos at Imaging Resource, the fuji photos look absolutely great The 14 megbyte pictures of flamingos show amazing detail on the feathers. I'm pretty impressed with the fuji, thus far. I'd like to know the pros and cons of this FUJI camera.
DJ..
Hiya.
I own the S5600 which here in England is exactly the same camera as the S5200. I managed to get hold of one for 180 and I am very impressed with it. Unfortunately even though it does have an antishake mode it tends to up the iso, which gives a fair bit of noise on the images. Also the auto focus can struggle sometimes but on the whole it does the job.
Apart from that it is an amazing camera for the price. I take a lot of close up shots of flowers and it really gives clear well defined images.
Landscapes too are well captured.
The best thing about the camera though is the ability to shoot in RAW, which I have discovered opened up a whole new area for me. Good start up times, excellent battery life and clear, sharp images are it's pros. on the minus side the antishake and autofocus which sometimes can be a pain are minor issues with what is really a great camera. If you do buy one the only thing I would suggest is that you buy a large xd memory card, as the 16mb one that is shipped with the camera is puny.I have a 512mb one in mine and on that you get either 205 jpeg images or 46 Raw files. If you are going to be shooting Raw files I would recommend a 1 gig card. Hope this helps.
If you need anymore info drop me a line Rob..
I just've bought S5600 (same as S5200) and what can I say! totally impressed!....a slight bit of difficulty using it as webcam though...can't find how to use it as webcam...not in the manual, but in the coupon it says it can be used as webcam...wish I knew how....
FinePix S5600. Authoritative camera. Impressive potential and good specifcations, but the layer designated to expose all the capabilities of the camera - the firmware - is, unfortunately, mediocre. Sometimes you try to understand why some function is implemented so inconveniently... But there is no answer... A sensible answer.
We do not ask to change or add anything that requires a serious hardware modification. We only ask to give us a chance to reveal the full potential of the product through a more convenient and powerful agent between the camera and it's user the firmware. The camera deserves it. It is highly capable. Help us.
Say YES! to the new firmware. http://s5600.new-firmware.info..
I expected great things from this camera and it has missed the mark for me. 1. On/Off switch is where the zoom is on 99% of other cameras like this one.
2. Even with the focus light, it still seems to struggle more than I expected.
3. Images seem to be a bit flat.
4. The digital zoom didn't produce as good of images of the Canon S2IS - for the same focal length.
5. No sleep mode - so if it shuts off, you have to turn off/on to wake it again. I had the Fuji E550 and that is a far better camera than this one. To be honest, I tried to return it I was that unhappy with the image quality and the location of the ON/OFF & Zoom. Target wanted to charge me $45 to return it (15% penalty for one day of ownership). For the extra $49 the Canon S2IS is FAR BETTER!..
To say the power button is where the zoom should be is well....unimaginative if correct. If you're such an automaton as to acidently turn off the camera instead of zooming I'm....shocked. Camera still going strong! Took her up to 8800 Feet in the Sierra Nevada and popped off some beautiful shots. Take care, Shawn..
Just received this camera from Amazon.com last week for a nice price (Better than what I could find in stores anyway.). So far it's been great. I'm just getting into Photography so I'm not up on all of the areas that most of people "critique" yet, but for everything I'm using it for it's been awesome. The big test comes tomorrow when I take it out to Death Valley...
I have been using this camera for 5 months now and i'm really impressed with this camera in terms of image quality. sharp and true-to-life photos. Low light photos were also great. Fuji has their own image stabilization version which is the 'anti-blur' feature - this increases the ISO setting. The 'Natural' light dial setup gives excellent images at good light conditions.
Overall, this is a great camera...
With several restricting disabilities,I still carry on quite well with the Fugi digital 5200.My main problem lies with downloading my full XD card. Most impressed with this model. But,haven't yet found the properr source: information about it..Aid needed!..
I have had a Fuji 5100 (4meg pixel) for over a year and have been very happy with it. When my wifes Fuji 3800 expired (heat death - don't leave these things in an unventilated car in the Oklahoma summer) I found the 5200 for under $250, less than I paid for the 5100 16 months ago.
I have been shooting the autumn foliage here in Virginia and find the color saturation and clarity of this camera wonderful. I purchased a 1 GB high-speed xD storage card for $38, a must have. I always carry two sets of NiMH rechargeable batteries but have yet to need to replace the batteries while doing a shooting session.
Because the lens does not extend/retract at power up/down, this camera is faster to the first shot than the 5100.
I can heartily recommend the Fuji 5200 as excellent value for money. I could have spent twice as much and only gotten a little more value. That said I am still waiting for the Fuji 9000 to drop below $400, that is my dream camera...
