The F30 is a nice camera, but not entirely elaborate.

As some reviewer put it: "This sensor deserves a better camera".

If the cam had a wider lens, a hot-shoe, a real manual mode, adjustable flash power (fill-in mode) and image stabilisation it would be the only mini-hq camera on the market and I would buy it right away. Maybe a future F40 solves some of the problems...

Try the Fuji S6000fd, it has a mechanical 28-300mm zoom lens, full manual controls and the same 6 megapixel sensor. Those looking for near SLR quality images without the hassle of changing lenses (and sensor dust) will enjoy it quite a bit. - Itai.

I love my new Fuji Finepix f30 digital camera, it's speed, and all it's features. However I have a problem: About every 100 th picture is garbled. That is parts of the total picture don't fit the other parts. A head and shoulders might be at the upper right of the picture, while shoulders and the rest of one's body may be placed at the lower left. In fact, the pic may be as I described or may be seperated into as many as five parts or more which don't fit together. I can't find anything on "Fuji f30 problems" on the internet, nor do I see others complaining about what should be a common problem if a problem at all, I think.

Later, I tried another xd card, then another f30; same results. Can anyone help? I'd sure appreciate it! -Bill..

Bill, you have a problem You have to identify the part which is at fault and have it fixed. First, do you see the garbled picture on your computer or on the camera LCD (before downloading it)? If your pictures are good in camera but not in the computer, you should look at the computer itself, the card reader (if applicable) or the camera driver (if connecting the camera to the computer). Since you tried 2 xD cards and 2 F30s (with, I assume, a different battery). If the pics do not look good in the camera, than I ran out of ideas! - Itai.

I'm disappointed with the Fuji F30. Everyone bills it as the "best low light camera" but it's not.

We do lots of shots of nightclubs and bands. We need maximum light into the shot in minimum time. You'd think the Fuji sensor would do it, but the lens is too small.

I've had two Olympus cameras previously and they left the Fuji F30 for dead. The Olympus C-2040 was the best low-light camera I have ever used. The Olympus C-4000 was okay too. I haven't found a digital SLR or compact which can match them. The F30 tries hard, and isn't terrible, but isn't as good as the Olympus.

The F-30 blurs too much (even on the manual settings), can be grainy, and the red-eye reduction doesn't cut the red-eye much...

One of my gripes with this camera is that the higher ISO settings are not so hot. ISO 800 is pretty nasty, especially in low light situations. But ISO 1600 is even worse, giving pictures a watercolor painting effect. ISO 3200 is a joke; avoid it unless you're desperate. Another gripe is the lens. It's too slow! Not enough light gets in even at the wide angle end, so Fuji needs to address that with the future F40 (if it is coming).

Generally smooth, clean images. Excellent battery life. Beautifully fluid LCD display. More manual features than rival Canon SD series. Good movie mode..

I have just bought the Fuji F20 for it's lowlight options - Used it Friday for a gig and was impressed by the lowlight options - the video was great too - despite no lights on stage - the band was backlit by the street lighting outside the picture windows! the specs for F30 & F20 seem very similar but there's anti blur & it offers ISO 2000 as highest for lowlight?.

Haven't come across F30 except on web. Tested shot refresh speed in Best Buy against the Canon SD700 - the Fuji beat it hands down and the colours seemed better ( on the display - no output of course) And the fuji.F20 was only $199 as opposed to $499 ! I'm still getting to grips with all the output - 2Gb cards vital for video!..

I bought my F-30 August 06. I cannot download sound files that go with the pictures using the camera connections. The sound files will download ok if I move the card over to my Olympus camera. Is this a common problem with the F-30? Can this problem be fixed?..

My F-30 was bought in Aug 06. I have had problems with the flash being too weak on too many shots. Seems like it flashes at a very low power level for some reason. At other times you can tell it flashes very strong and that flash gets the job done. It seems the darker the room, the more times the weak flash happens.

Is this a common problem?.

Any suggestions?.

Is there any way to force the flash to always be strong?..

Hi guys, I want to buy Fujifilm Finepix F30. All the feature a quite ok for me,.

The only thing is disturbing me is it's reliability the manufacturer.

Offers only one year warranty period. Who used the camera for a year or so, what reliability is ?

Did it require some service, overhauling ? If yes, which ? And how reliable are the Fuji cameras all in all ? Thanks in advance.

I'm planning to buy a compact camera soon, and after reading all the reviews online, there are only 2 camera on the final list: Fuji F30 and Canon SD800IS. F30's low-light performance is extremely impressive, while I've always love the Canon's vibrant color. F30 does a only about average good in usual day-light condition, while SD800IS can do an excellent job in day-light but performs only fairly in low-light.

Is there any one can provide some advices on this? Thanks a lot!..

I am in the embryo stage when it comes to my knowledge about digital cameras so I am soliciting some advice.

A friend gave me a Fuji FinePix F700 camera - just the camera; no battery, no CDsoftware and no camera dock. Is this camerea worth purchasing the necessary items to get it up and running?.

I would appreciate any and all opinions. Thanks!..

Hi, This is quite a fun camera, it has a special sensor which captures more dynamic range than nearly every other camera. You need a Fuji NP-40 battery, a battery charger (I think the model is BC-65) and some xD cards. Weather it is worth it depends on cost. You should consider you.

Can get an F20 for around 200 USD, which gives you better high-ISO, better battery life but less dynamic range and no manual controls. - Itai.
