Does anybody know for sure whether the landscape/portriat modes in finepix 4800 actually min/max the aperture? If I read correctly from the 4700 review, that mode does change other settings but not the aperture/shutter speed. In other words, if I use the landscape mode to take a macro, would I get quite a depth of field of out the picture (I need it for bio lab sample shots). Any comment on picture quality? Thanks!..
My Fuji 48ooZ has a blue pixel that always remains on the LCD monitor is this a fault?.
Also when I try to download to my pc I keep getting Fuji not found message!.
Any Help please.....
My Fuji 48ooZ has a RED pixel. it does not stop the camera working though- any comments regarding constantly lit pixel?..
I bought a Fuji Fine pix 4800 zoom digital camera yesterday, and am happy with most of what I have used. However, I have noticed that a couple of areas of pixels (about 4 pixels square) are present on the printed output, and particularly so if pics are taken in low light. These are always in the same place (the most noticeable block is just off center, near the top of the photos). Very low light pictures show these up quite critically as a sizeable yellow dot - is this a problem with my camera, in which case should I think of returning it for replacement?..
Hello, i'd like to download my photos from my PC (Win XP) to my Fuji 4800. I can do it but when I want to play photo whith the digital camera, i've got a message "Error Card" Thanks..
I've got a specific request. I'd like to take a movie clip from a completely independent source and convert it to the right format to play on the 4800 camera. I know this means 10fps, 320 x 240 res etc... but the codec seems to be the main hold-up. I'm trying to use the motion jpeg codec that comes with the camera, but when I transfer the file over to the camera it has a file error and won't play it. Any ideas?..
I guess this equates to the same problem I've got with video clips. Are the images saved in exif jpeg file mode? Otherwise there may be some conflict. Not too sure how you convert to this very specific format though...
I bought this camera as my first digital camera after using a Canon Eos and Epson scanner to get digital photos. I have not been disappointed! On a recent trip to Cambodia to see the temples of Angkor Wat, I used the Fuji more than my Eos! I bought a spare battery and 2 more 128MB cards, giving over 150 pictures each at 2MP resolution. The only missing ingredient was a really wide angle lens for the narrow passageways. And a tripod (to hot 7 sweaty to lug one around!). I like this so much, it's given me the digital camera bug and I now want to go the next step - a Fuji S602! An excellent choice for an enthusiast looking for that first step into the digital realm. http://homepage.mac.com/kfitzmaurice/PhotoAlbum9.html for the results. Works well with Mac OSX and iPhoto...
Hi, I'm about to buy this camera for real estate purposes and I was wondering if it is possible to fit a wide angle lens? I need it to take photos of the interiors of houses. Thanks..
Anyone interested in the 4800 should be aware that it is possibly the only Fujifilm product NOT supported in Mac OSX. I had a PowerTowerPro Computer, a Mac clone that became a Mac when Apple bought them out, and was operating the 4800 in OS 9.2. When I bought a new G4 eMac with Panther OSX 10.3.2 - all Hell broke loose. I thought I could operate the 4800 through it's USB connection via Classic, (the legacy operating system for apps that are not OSX compatible) At first, the imports to iPhoto were simple - but at the moment - my 256 Mb Smart Media card is unreadable and evidently needs to be reformatted. How that happened I don't have a clue. The only symptom I can relay is that now the camera in it's powered USB cradle hangs the computer if I turn it on.
It seems to be in an endless looping handshake mode. I am going over to my son's house for New Year's Eve tomorrow and will take along the camera with this card and see if he can reinitialize it on his PC computer and his digital camera system that also uses a smart card. I realize that this forum is pretty much hit and miss with replies - many posts never being responded to, and others taking months between replies. However; on the oft chance that a more knowledgeable person than me can shed any light on this situation, I will hopefully await any helpful comments. Does anyone know if it is possible to reinitialize the card by using the camera alone?..
Eric, I just popped into this forum for the first time today, so a reply to a question posted in August is probably already taken care of... but, nonetheless, The 4800 is a zoom camera - which means it was designed as a semi-wide angle to zoom system. Most of the zoom is done digitally, but on my camera I believe that the default unzoomed lens setting is slightly wide-angled to begin with. The fact that there is a macro-setting defines that the camera must be able to adjust it's depth of field, and that can only be done by changing the focal length - not digitally. IOW, the lens system is on there to stay, and doesn't accept switching out lenses. What you see is what you get.
I recommend shooting corner-to-corner to get your shots. If that doesn't do it for you - get a digital back for a regular SLR or Hassleblad in order to swap lenses or pay the bucks for a dedicated digital camera with wide-angle. Don't forget that there is computer software that will allow your computer to take a series of bite-sized photos and recombine them into a panaramic photo...
