I don't like the far away shots , nor the low light .I might take it back .The small close shots were good , some were better then my oly 400 but the oly 400 had usually better detail .After three years I would expect a bit better for same money...

Camera is good , some very good shots but be patient and better take alot of shots. Some shots were amazing but the one area I also had problems with besides the dark photos sometimes was macro.Maybe I also did not do it right .The coupon said good, not here...

Indoor pictures, even when there is sufficient lighting, often comes out pretty dark. But I found that if I set the flash to 'Slow Synchro', the images are much more closer to actual lighting conditions...

2300model.never owned adigital...I wish I waited until these cameras are easy to load, hell of a time trying to figure out how to download with a flashpath reader and store into harddrive and reterval..cut & paste etc [if not window expert forget it ]......the manual assumes that the user is trained on windows.manual is very child reaing but forgets to mention window operation to get you going. No protective case after 2 days minimal use it's easily scratched and unfit to be returned. The case ,5v supply, flashpath reader$..148 over$ 300 for the basic gear... get real... fugi;;;;better to buy a camera that has all the necessery items and metal case and rest in peace with out fugi making a killing...

I agree that the distant pictures are a little on the hazy side, but considering that the optics are a standard CCD and not the higher-end CCD that DCMS units use - I'm not surprised. Load it onto your PC and with very little effort the image can be manipulated for web space or a photo printer (I tried both). Consider the fact that you're paying ~$200 for the unit... not $500+ for something higher end. The 2300s options far exceed expectations for this price range. Not to mention that the majority of you who commented on this camera really need to learn some sort of grammar.....

George, How do you download? I can't figure it out, have a Mac clone: Has anyone used a Fuji Finepix 2300 with their Umax machine? I have one, a USB card and I have installed the software onto OS 8.6. Apple profiler says it detects an unknown card, camera says USB when hooked up. Problem is the Fuji manual sucks. It doesn't say anything about how to download the images!!! It alludes to the camera showing up as another drive (file sharing has to be on, Appletalk off). So the camera shows up like a disk on the HD and you just drag and drop the images from that image? The software says ZIP about how to get the pictures. Otherwise, camera is excellent.

And can't figure out that if it is supposed to show up as a storage device, how to get the pictures!!! Thanks,.

Re: Generic 5v power adapter. Has anyone bought and is successfully using a generic (e.g., Radio Shack) 5v power adapter for the finepix 2300? If so, what model/brand are you using?..

I am actually using an old power adapter that I got off an old set of Sony speakers that I had. It's actually a 4.5v power adapter and it works fine. Just had to make sure that it was a DC adapter and the polarity was correct. If you have any questions, just drop me a line. Marty Westra.

Thank you Marty and Carolyn. After further review, as they say, I have decided against getting a PS as my set of NiMH batteries has "incredibly" long life. I can't give any hard figures by any means, but I can tell you I have been screwing around plenty with the camera, downloading, letting it sit there while still plugged in to the laptop.... and the batteries are still only on their second charge. It's been 3 or 4 weeks since I bought the camera...

My new 2300 has software that cannot be run on windows 95. I know I am in the dark ages with that computer but if someone is thinking of buying a digital camera and planning to use their windows95 to down load and process the photos, think about buying a new computer first.

Unless, someone out there knows of a way to MAKE the software work on 95, that would be cool.

Thanks..

I have had this camera long enough, to know that there is two things that I am having trouble. 1. The RED EYE is murder. I have set the flash to double flash, but that does not take away the redeye. 2. I clean the lens, I shoot shots indoors with the flash, And sometimes, I get the worse looking shots with these round ghost looking small bubbles.

I cant imagine if I dont get rid of these how I can rely on the camera to take Flash Shots in lower light conditions. The thing seems to give these annoying bubbles....

Just bought the 2300 yesterday for $200 CAN. So far i'm impressed. The software was really easy to install on Win ME and the pictures i've taken look really nice, although they have been taken a few feet from the subject and in good lighting conditions...
