I am comapring F700 and S-50. Which one will be a better buy for me as a amateur...
Has anyone had problems with downloading photos from the F700 after installation of FinePix Viewer software and drivers with Windows XP?.
I have been successful doing this with PCs with Windows98 and Windows 2000, but can't get it to work with another PC with Windows XP Home Edition. The software loads as expected and the hardware is recognized by the system as present as a removable disk, there is even a icon showing a camera, however, the drive is "invalid" on the My Computer lising. The camera is properly connected and set-up for USB downloading, but photographs will not download automatically or manually since the format of the drive seems to be foreign. I have tried the latest drivers and repeated the process several times without success. If anyone has solved this problem or knows it's possible causes, please let me know. I suspect it is a hardware problem.
Unfortunately a slot for the xD is not included...
The problems mentioned above have now become even more puzzling. The software/hardware started working last night, but then became intermittent again with repeated attempts. This morning the first two camera-to-PC down load attempts succeeded. It seems that the system is fussy. It might be a marginal sync situation. I am starting to think the intermittent operation has to do with a cold camera.
That could be the problem since I was told by the Fuji technical support that if I bought a USB card, I should get a high quality USB 2.0 card...
For fuji finepix F700, the quality of the picture is good or not? because ist not realy a real 6.2MP ? the quality is the same as one whit are real 6.2MP ? Merci!..
The F700, while not a true 6 megapixal, offers equivalent resolution in the 4 to 5 megapixal range, and has a somewhat revolutionary SuperCCD chip that yields excellent dynamic range (details within shadows and overexposed pictures that rival photographic film). Its compact size, lightning speed, solid construction and wide range of features (including full auto and manual options, 30fps movies and web cam capabilities) make it hard to beat. All this, and availability at below $350 over the Internet, make it an extremely good value...
I guess you could call me a beginning enthusiast-I bough this camera because I really wanted the 30FPS movie mode with audio and this is the only affordable model offering that combo-It is truly amazing btw-the microphone picks up loud and clear, the capture is just like a camcorderI adore it. As far as stills- it is also 10X better than the 2.1 I was using. Can't speak to all the white balance, "f" stuff or other things I do not understand-I just understand this was one hell of a bargin at $293,..
Dear Jeff,.
I am seriously considering buying this camera. Were you able to resolve the software/hardware problems? Can you download pictures? Do you still like the camera?..
What service pack are you using? You should upgrade to SP 1 and add then add the Windows XP update for USB. You can check in the device manager to see if you have USB 2.0 or not, but it should work regardless. You can use a USB 2.0 device with a USB 1.0 connection, you just won't get the high speed transfer. You have to be careful about how you disconnect as well. Make sure you stop the USB device before unplugging...
The F700 is not USB 2.0 as far as I can tell from the manual and Fuji website. I suspect the problems Jeff was having were either a faulty camera or cable. Or possibly a conflict with some other software/drivers on his system...
Can anyone out there let me know how to get the Fuji f700 to run as a webcam? I know theres a setup choice for "pc" but nothing happens when I'm on it!!..
I'm an amateur. After quite a bit of digital camera research, I decided to buy the Fuji F700.
I simply got impatient with waiting for "the next shot delay"....and for my present camera to "digest" before it got ready to take the next shot. So, last week, I went down to B&H photo in NYC, and bought the "extremly fast" Fuji F700.
This camera truly has "no digestive system" that I could complain about. It was so fast, that I thought I was stroking a woman in heat!... Well, you might know what I mean... And, I knew that the picture quality was not going to be the best....and yet I still bought the camera. So, my question is this: How can I get better picture quality with the F700? I don't really like the picture quality even though I'm very much an amateur. I simply don't like "what I see"...
I'm just going to try and figure out if there's a way for my pictures to come out better, clearer, a bit more accurate. I paid $324 for the camera at B&H. I could have gotten it cheaper from some other dealers with bad seller ratings, so B&H was the way for me to go. The F700's got less "bells and whistles", which is perfect for my simple mind. I just didn't want to buy a camera that had extra buttons always staring me in the face, and of which I would "NEVER" use.
(I think, I hope....) Yes, I've tried a few of the other "modes", to experiment, but so far, I get the same results. Please free to email me with any suggestions...
It's a toss up betweeen the Fuji F700 and the Pentax 555.
I like the size and the feel of the F700 and the speed. I'm not crazy about the xD card.
I like the fact that the 555 takes an SD card and has a solid feel.
In the end I want to get a good all around camera which I plan on keeping for a few yrs for sure.
I would sure appreciate your opinions on these two cameras.
Thanks.,.
