FinePix 2400 Discussion
Great coupon of the FinePix 2400 Zoom, very professional. It is nice to see a coupon of the camera on it's merits (DCRP compared the camera to the Oly 490Z and the only comment on the image quality of the Fuji was "seemed good"). I have a FinePix 2400 and the image quality is just as good as the Oly 490Z and for a much cheaper price. Nice slim design (easy to carry around) and long battery life...

I bought mine a week ago. The only problem I found on FinePix2400 is that pictures are.

Always blurred on the right, especially upper right corner.

I have tried two and they show exactly the same problem. So.

I think this might be common to this model. But it doesn't.

Seem to happen on the sample pictures in your review. Enclosed is a sample picture I took. I was standing about 1.5m.

Away from the map. Flash light was used. Later, I turned on.

Macro mode and the map became a clear on both sides. But.

I should be needing macro mode of that distance. The problem.

Also shows on far scene. Colin..

I got my finepix 2400 for xmas and am thoroughly pleased. the picture quality is terrific. the battery life is very good also. you can take pictures in very low light without a flash and they still turn out very well. the clincher was the price. $315 online at focuscamera.com...

I have had the FujiFinePix 2400 since Christmas of 2000. I am extremely pleased with the results and have since bought a new photo quality printer capable at printing 2400 d.p.i. and have given up film. Some reviewers complain that digital images with any camera have to be adjusted to be viewable. Keep in mind that when you send in film for processing or make your own color prints, a digital analyzer is used to automatically adjust color, exposure, brightness, contrast, etc of each negative in an attempt to "normalize" each negative. Digital photographers in effect become their own photo-finishing lab must learn to use programs such as Adobe, Corel Photo Paint, Paint Shop Pro, etc and adjust color balance, brightness and contrast.

How sharp is the image (an aspect that cannot be easily corrected if deficient at the time the photo was taken)? In addition, accurate skin tone rendering is critical. This camera does an excellent job with both resolution and skin tones. I am leery of people who tout the benefits of even higher numbers of pixels, keep in mind that with increased pixels, file size will grow geometrically. Who is going to be so inconsiderate as to send 10 photos via e-mail that are 1Mb each, thus choking your recipients mailbox? How much hard drive space and CD storage are we going to devote to ever increasing files sizes? As with 35mm photography, how many times does the average photographer make an 8 x 10 enlargement. Most photos are printed at 4x6 and simply placed in the photo album? Be sure to keep the intended final use of your photos in mind when considering any digital camera purchase...

I recently bought the fine pix 2400, the bummer is that I run Windows TN 4.0 and there is no SUB driver supplied.

Has anyone found an alternative.

Hi, I am thinking of buying this FinePix 2400 camera however I was hesitating as there is no macro function (like the Olympus c2020), I take a lot of pictures of flowers and I was curious to see if anybody out there as tried and got good result for close-up. Thanks, Nathalie..

Hello, I just read your comment (a month after you posted it). If you haven't already found out, the Fuji 2400 DOES have a macro mode (4 inches to 30 inches). I hope this helps, Abhay..

Hi, I've got a 2400Z, and I try to connect it to my HP Pavilion.

- When I use the default USB driver from Win98, it doesn't work.

- When I use the Fuji driver, the HP can't boot anymore. Any idea ?? Thanks...

It does have a macro facility, and a very good one it is too!..

Just bought my 2400 zoom today, and I am VERY happy with it. It replaced a Fuji DX8, which at one point (not all that long ago really!) it was a good little camera. I just hope this one doesnt get outdated as quickly as the last one!..

Microsoft has no plans to add USB support to NT 4.0. Here are a couple of alternatives: 1. Blow away your system, install Windows 98 then NT 4.0. You'll end up with a dual boot system where Windows 98 is used for it's USB support. 2. Install the Windows 2000 Professional upgrade either to upgrade NT 4.0 or into another directory to setup a dual NT/2000 system.

Win2000 supports USB...
