I believe that's 3 stops faster (4.5, 3.5, 2.8) so that would be 1/240. Feel free to correct if I'm wrong..

That's two stops (f/5.6 - f/4 - f/2.8) so that shutter speed will be up to 1/250 (1/60 - 1/125 - 1/250)..

Jfinite is TOTALLY WRONG. USACanuck is correct, It is two stops from 5.6 to 2.8, therefore you have four times the light and thus may reduce the shutter time by a factor of four, from 1/60 to 1/240. Most cameras however will have 1/250 as the nearest available speed.Judy.

The progression is f/1.4, f/2, f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/11, f/16, f/22, f/32..
For each stop you double/halve the shutter speed..
One stop is a big difference so most cameras above P & S permit adjustment in 1/3rd or 1/2 steps. Lens minimum apertures are often mid way between stops particularly at the wideangle end of the zoom range..

Start with f1.0 and double each one.f1 f2 f4 f8 f16 f32Start with f1.4 and double each one.f1.4 f2.8 f5.6 f11 f22Now just put them togther.
F1 f1.4 f2 f2.8 f4 f5.6 f8 f11 f16 f22 f32 Ta da!A member of the rabble in good standing...
