Hello again....
Can any one tell me the differnce in an Ef and and FD 50mm lens..
FD is Canon's old manual lens type. These will not fit on the current EF mount (autofocus)..
Also, can you tell me the difference in the 50mm 1.8 Mark I versionand the same lens Mark II?.
Not much, except that the mark I has a metal mount and therefore is considered by some to be better..
THANKS!!.

In addition to the metal mount as the other poster pointed out, the Mark II also has a distance scale. Read somewhere (on the Net so how true???) that the optics are very similar..

For typos, use the edit function..
50/1.8 Mark I has significantly better build than 50/1.8 mk 2. The mk 1 was only made for a few years in the late '80s. You can only get it used, and it costs condierably more than the current mk 2..
If you are interested in a mk 1, you may be able to find one cheap at garage sales or even eBay, if it happens to be attached to an old EOS camera like the 650..

And would be so kind as to point out where the "edit function" is here on dpreview to edit a post after it has been sent cause I was not aware there was such a feature..

Where depends on what view you use. If flat, the link is left of the "reply" link for the message. If threaded, it is between the "quote" and "complaint" link..
In each case, the link is only visible for messages that you can edit (i.e. your own messages, and only within 15 minutes of posting there may be other rules)..

(Canon) FD lenses are old manual focus lenses which were discontinued in the late 1980's. They aren't compatible with modern (post 1987) EOS film or digital bodies which use the later EF mount..

This has been covered a lot on the Canon Lens Forum but there is a summary of the differences at http://forums.dpreview.com/...forums/read.asp?forum=1029&message=21891499.
