Going off your very first statement, the Sandisk Ultra II would work just fine. Basically, the more money you spend, the faster a memory card you will get. But, again, going off your first statement, anything faster than the Ultra II would be overkill for you..
A nice starting card would be a 2GB Ultra II card. You'll be able to get hundreds of JPEG pictures before it is full..
DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY. >99% of Sandisk cards are fakes, and you will certainly end up with problems one way or the other. Buy from a reputable dealer either online or from a local store..
An "Ultra II" is equivalent to "66X" where X=150kb/sec. If that is foreign, don't worry about it. Just remember 66X. Look for a memory card around that number. Here are some good examples:$23 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220152.

I tried using an Ultra Disk 2 GB CF card, but it brought up an error message and wouldn't work in my camera (which is an XTi). It said to replace the card so I bought another one, this time a Lexar Platinum II 1 GB CF and the same thing happened. So I bought a SunDisk Ultra II CF card and guess what....it happened again. I'm about ready to chuck the thing out the window. What's the point in having a camera if you can't take any pictures?.
Sorry I didn't really answer your question, but at least now you know which cards NOT to use!..
If you hurry, Radio Shack has the 2 gig Sandisk Ultra II on sale for $20.Joel Orlinsky..
Silly questions but :1 - Did you format the cards in-camera?2 - Are they locked?..
Thanks for the great info!! I will definately check out the sites listed as well as radio shack..
Thanks again every one!..
I went to radio shack and $20 was not the compact flash. They were $80 ..
