Hi, I've got one and it's great - you can pick up 340Mb microdrives new on e-bay for about $120.The optical zoom is stunning.I hear Walmart in the states may be selling this at a good price.I'm in the UK so this stuff is more expensive, Mike...

I bought the Casio QV-2900UX and I LOVE IT! As Mike said, Wal-Mart has a GREAT price on it.

Like most digi-cams, It eats batteries like we eat popcorn. The rechargeable batteries work must better. When outside, the screen is difficult to see.

It says it does TIFF format, but I haven't found a way to export them yet. Deep inside the instruction manual it says that you can't do it with the software that's supplied. I called tech support and the person didn't know anything about it.

One important thought for anyone thinking of buying a digi-cam is to look for one with an optical viewer so you dont have to use the cameras monitor screen. The screen takes a lot of power to run.

Regarding Casio, you can only get Casio accessories from Casio and, in my opinion, they are WAY over-priced...

To export in TIFF mode try this freeware - it works but I don't see a great improvement:- www.irfanview.com Anyone set their own Best Shot modes? I've preset one for shooting through windows ( cars, trains, space shuttles-you know the drill!) it is Infinite focus - to avoid capturing the reflection; Flash off;and 1/250 sec to iron out most motion blur. This is hopefully going to avoid fiddling with the buttons and missing the moment! Any others most welcome. Mike...

Battery consumption for this camera is heavy and you should invest in some 1800 mAH NiMH cells. I bought 4 from a guy selling on Ebay and they are great.I tried a trial run set to interval flash every I minute and the 340Mb microdrive filled up (400 pics!) before the cells gave out and every shot was with flash,no zooming though.Still,a staggering performance. I've read elsewhere that the battery capacity is NOT linear with the mAH rating and it seems you can almost double the battery power for each additional 200mAH. Where are the boffins when you need them?!..

What is the difference between the 2800 and the 2900?..
