Canon XTi Ebay or B&H
I'm new here so please look over my ignorance!.

I am wanting to buy a Canon Xti. I previously had a Canon Rebel 35mm and still have my lenses. I have been told they will fit the digital rebel as well. Is this correct?.

ALSO.....

The price of the camera on B&H is $662, JUST body. I have found the same camera, yet Class A refurbished that includes 4GB card, extra battery, card reader, bag, etc for $624. The refurb has a 90 warranty, the new had 12 month. So, my question to you is WHAT would you do? Also, I don't want to spend more than $700..

Thanks in advance!..

Everyone's view is going to vary on this..

For me, I'd happily buy stuff on ebay that has a low risk of breaking down, and is not too valuable..

(and all this assumes the vendor is reliable - there are some reliable sellers on ebay, it is just harder to work out who to trust).

For a DSLR i'd rather buy from a shop that I know has a good returns policy, will honour the 12month warranty, will fix if broken, and is reliable..

So I would go B&H..

Others will be more than happy to use ebay...

I trust them more than anyone on I've seen on Ebay..

Besides once you buy some stuff from them, they send you some really cool catalogs and not cheap ones either. Wonderful for research and wishbooks. Now that you've judged the quality of my typing, take a look at my photos..http://www.photo.net/photos/GlenBarrington..

I'm all for a good deal, but having just gone throught his same purchase decision buying my own XTi I would go with B&H. I personally bought from Buydig becuase I've had good experiences with them in the past, and I avoided the sales tax I would have had to pay through B&H..

Buying a refurb on ebay is always a risk. That 90 day warranty is only as good as the company backing it up and you don't know who they are. B&H will always stand behind their sales. The short term savings on ebay could result in a long term headache on this investment..

Amazon has the Rebel XT with kit lens for $496 and the Rebel XTi with kit lens for $662. These are new and have a full warranty..

If one is not sure of the seller's reliability, there's also the worry of not getting the merchandise at all. The established vendors (including some which do have eBay outlets, like Cameta) would tend to be more careful with their reputation...

Yeah, but....

The way the new camera works, the edges are cut off the images "seen" by your old lenses..

So they will fit the camera, but they will act as "more telephoto" than they did on your old film camera..

So, get teh 18-55mm kit lens, plus keep your old lenses..

BAK..
