I haven't read a lot of IR camera reviews, so it may be SOP here, but I noticed that print quality comparisons out of the 7D ranged from 1:1.5 to 1:1.25 almost randomly, i.e., 20 x 30, 16 x 20, 13 x 19 then 8 x 10. That's not criticism just seems unusual. Printing full frame might be more important for lens performance comparisons than sensor/processor performance. Great review regardless, Joe Sesto.

Hi Joe - Thanks for your feedback. Those are common large print sizes, so nothing random about them. If we need to look at a lens issue in print, we'll crop and print the corner(s). Hope this helps..

Regarding the 7D autofocus issues, it sounds a bit like the issues I am having ... but with a twist. I was testing some lenses (15-85, 17-40, 16-35II, 17-85) and all of them, except for the 17-85, would not focus correctly at their wider zoom positions. This was shooting a flat wall at the back of my house. Trying those shots again using single point AF, rather than the other multi-point AF modes, yielded much better results. The scene I was shooting was flat, nothing in the frame to trick the camera.

Wondering if anybody else is having similar issues? Peter..

Thought I should elaborate on the above post... Regarding the comment "irregular results using different focus points", what I did was calibrate my 50 1.4 lens while using the centre focus point, then I tried some shots using another focus point and it was consistently backfocussing on that other focus point. I have sent the camera to Canon and they sent it back saying it's all okay!.

Hello .

I'm thinking of buying a Canon 7D, but I heard from the seller that she had problems with the AF-Focus. Does anyone know if it has been resolved? Is It a good camera? I have a canon xti, good camera, but limited... And I need more sharpness too.

Thank's .

Denise from Brazil.

Wow, comparing a D7 to full frame Canons and Nikons. Guess if you are testing cars you would compare a Chevy Aveo with a Corvette! In what world is that a good comparison? Also how do you figure a zoom lens has more depth of field than a prime lens? Depth of field is a factor of focal length to aperture. A zoom lens at the same focal length and f stop as a prime lens will have same depth of field..

Comparing to full-frame shows a better representation of what the subject actually is, kind of a reference. Also, at the 7D's price-point, full-frame isn't *that* much more expensive (a 5D Mark II is about $750 or about 45% more), which is something to think about. Certainly far less than the difference between an Aveo and Corvette (about 1:5). As for the second comment, I believe the reviewer was referring to maximum aperture. Hope this helps..

I have a EOS 10d and am thinking about buying either the 7D or the Ti2 [550]. Is the price difference worthwhile? I have two existing L zoom lenses which should work fine with the camera. Anyone have any opinions as to which camera to purchase? Thank you..

It depends on your needs. Image quality is very similar between the T2i and 7D. The 7D is quite a bit faster, has more advanced AF, more features and direct access buttons, larger & brighter viewfinder, can control remote flashes wirelessly using the built-in flash, and is more rugged than the T2i. It's more of a professional model, while the T2i is considered a consumer model. Keep in mind the CF cards you currently have for your 10D won't work in the T2i as it uses SD cards (the 7D still uses CF cards), but memory is pretty cheap these days..

I just purchased a Canon 7D, which I plan to use primarily for recording high definition video. Could someone please recommend which compact flash cards and additional batteries I should purchase to obtain the best results. Thanks, Robin.
