Nope. Way more trouble than it is worth to make them fit, and then there's no automation, the meter does not work, autofocus does not work, etc., etc..
Just buy yourself a Canon 50mm f1.8 AF lens, and be happy..

I was wondering if I can use Canon FD (or FL) lenses on my EOS 400Dbody?.
Here are some links containing info on using Canon FD lenses that I saved from back when I was researching getting a Nikon lens for my Canon DSLR.

" In fact it's easier to use non-Canon optics on the EF mount rather than the older Canon FD lenses. The FD and EF mount have very close if not identical retro focus distances. The FD mount used a breech-lock mount; the EF mount uses the modern bayonet style mount. To create an adapter to go from FD breech-lock to EF bayonet mount would require a thicker adapter, than a non-Canon Bayonet mount. The thicker adapter would tend to act like an extension tube and thus you would lose infinity focus. ".

As others wrote, it's difficult. And for this lens, really not worth it. You'll end up with a 62mm f/1.8 that doesn't look decent until f/5.6, doesn't AF, and doesn't couple with the camera's meter. You are much further ahead using the 50/1.4 as a paperweight, loupe or macro lens (reversed on another lens), and getting a lens designed for the camera..
Also remember that the 400D sensor is smaller than 35mm. If you like the field of view of the 50mm on 35mm, you should be looking at a lens in the 30mm ballpark on the 400D. The Canon 28/1.8 and 35/2, and Sigma 28/1.8 and 30/1.4 are about as close as you'll get without spending more for the lens than you did for the camera (i.e. Canon 35/1.4L)..
Thanks!.
You're welcome!.

I'm sorry I'm off-topicking my own topic, but I'd be curious to know how much would be an 'okay' price to pay for a Canon EF 50 mm f/1.4 lens then?..
