I'm looking for a simple digital camera with a long lens, say 400m,and image stabilisation. As I wear spectacles I would need one witha viewfinder, preferably optical, as I can't see the image in themonitor clearly. I currently use a Canon powershot A80 and my SLRsare film (Minolta XD7 and 7000). Can anyone out there advise meplease..
Thanks biko.

Or maybe the Sony H series. The H9 has a 15x zoom but it's user interface seems to be getting panned. The earlier cameras in the series are good AFAIK..
I have an H1 (36 - 432mm) + a 1.7 teleconvertor which Sony makes for it..

Just trying to learn and it's slow going!..
I notice that you have all three( 20-30-50) so the upgrading was obviously worth the $$$$$..
I'm waiting for the next one. Do ya think it's going to be this summer, Gene?.
Thanx.

I have owned a Sony H5 and Sony H1 (the H1 was better than the H5 !!) The Canon S3IS is ok as is the Panasonic FZ50The biggest problem is as soon as you need to use ISO over 200 , basically you are in trouble with all of these. I would personally avoid them all and go for a budget SLR deal like I did , you will get a far better camera and much better image quality. You cannot go beyond f8 with a superzoom either which might be ok for wildlife but it's pretty unhelpful for tons of other subjects..
Most budget DSLRs are just as easy to use as superzooms , far more versatile and you wont regret it!.
Try Olympus E500 Canon Rebel XTI Nikon D50 Pentax whatever! I have an Olympus E500 and my honest opinion is the image quality is at least 100% better!!!!!!!!!!Good Luck!!.
