Best P&S for macro work
This may have been discussed before but plse be tolerant. My daughter likes to take macro shots, mainly flowers & insects. Can anyone recomend a good point & shoot camera for such work. We thought about DSLR but rejected them on account of cost and the need to change lens etc.

She currently is using a Panasonic FZ20 but the results dont live up to her high expectations...

The FZ20 ought to be good, it's got 10x zoom or something, right?.

Long zoom equals very good for a closeup-lens, since you can get incredible magnifications from a nice working-distance..

I'm telling you, a cheap (but highquality acromatic) +4 or +8 closeup-lens for maybe $60 on that FZ20 will beat any built in macro in any compact out there..

Read up on closeup-lenses, like the Raynox DCR-150 and DCR-250, there are a lot of info in here about them, some that I've written..

Check my page below for what can be done with a compact and a Raynox-lens. Its in swedish though but you can click menus and watch pics anyway I guess. No DSLR-shots at all on my site.http://sebastianfoto.se/..

Except the FZ20 dosn't have any close focusing ability at the tele end, just at the wide end..

You obviously dont know how closeup-lenses work. Read up on them..

I've written a bit on the subject in here the last few days, just search for Raynox and Macro or something and read on..

It doesn't matter if the camera has good or bad macro to start with, only thing that matters is how much tele it's got.http://sebastianfoto.se/..

As usual, the problem is the human behind the camera, not the camera..
