What camera do you recommend? I'm pretty happy with Canon over thepast decade of using their cameras. Any help would be greatlyrecommended, the camera will be used for general photography oflandscapes, portraits and marco photography if possible..
If you were happy with something else, that would be fine too, but if you'rehappy with Canon:.

It will be fine for what you want...
You won't go wrong with any of the entry level DSLRs..
Beginnings are times when you have the freedom to make a choice, and I would advise that you take that opportunity and make a decision based on which camera you feel is the most pleasant to work with, so visit a camera store and ask to compare the different cameras..
Things to think about include whether you want image stablisiation built in the camera body, or if you can afford to buy it in each and every lens instead. Sony, Pentax, and Olympus offer IS built in. Canon and Nikon want you to buy an expensive stablised lens if you need that facility..
I think you only 'need' to tie yourself into Canon or Nikon systems if you have a long-term aim to build up a working pro system. If you don't then the Nikon D40x (which is a simplified version with some restrictions on using older lenses) will probably be even nicer to use than the Canon 400D as a camera to start with..
Another consideration: you will lose access to live preview (only able to check the shot after you have taken it on the LCD) if you buy brands other than Olympus at present..
Anyway... don't buy without looking at the different models and seeing if you like their layouts, menus and viewfinders. Of course if there are no camera stores near you the 'safer' choices are the popular Canons and Nikons; they may not necessarily be the best available for you however..

If you are a beginner, and dont want to spend too much money....are you really sure you need a DSLR?.
A small cheap compact ultrazoom like the Canon S3 (or the other similar from other brands) will let you explore all functions and options of a real camera, yet you will have both macro and long tele and movie-mode and live-view in a very small format..
Makes shooting really fun, if you dont need the extra imagequality from a DSLR for some reason?.
A compact in the right hands can produce incredible pictures, and it's something to grow into before you step up to DSLR..
All the pics on my site below is from compacts, almost all of them from my S3. Its in swedish only, but most people seem to understand to click in the meny at top .

As you can see I dont photograph people, since a compact ain't very good at professional portraits. They are good at other things though, so you need to choose camera after your needs..
DSLR ain't always necessarily the only right option, but if you have the money why not..

Thanks, glad you like them..
All pics except maybe four of five of them are from my Canon S3, and almost all macros are with a macro-lens in front of the camera since the S3 doesn't have any good macro-mode just like 99% of all other compacts.http://sebastianfoto.se/..
