Pick up a D80 guide from Barnes and Nobles or Borders. Best way to go. Can't remember the best one, but I'm sure there are a few, and some will chime in with the right one.Photography and Graphic DesignPortfolio - http://www.atlanticexpressinc.comPrints - http://www.atlanticexpressions.com..
Hi Kim.
This really depends on what you want form a course....
1. learn more about your camera (better off with the manual, the internet and a lot of practice.).
2. about photography in general - beginners courses through Floodlight will give you the basics. They aren't v comprehensive, but they will give you a good grounding, and you'll meet like-minded people to learn with..
Watch out out as digital courses are still a bit fledgling - so check out what you'll be doing and see if it meets your needs. Some of them focus less on technique and more on how amazing it is to look at your pics on a website. Depends what floats your boat..
You'll learn the most from 'doing'. (and posting questions here normally gets a sensible answer.).
Have fun.

I've just finished a course on creative composition and exposure with betterphoto.com. There are loads of courses to choose from and you can do one that suits your level of experience. There are lessons each week which gets you out shooting photos. You upload your photos and these get critiqued by the tutor and others doing the same course. I learned a lot on the course and it was great to see how others approached the same brief. I am just deciding which course to do next as I enjoyed the last one so much!.
If you do decide to take a course with them, if I refer you, I will get a discount off my next course so let me know! (but don't worry - I enjoyed it so much, I'm going to take one anyway!)..
By the way, I also shoot with a Nikon D80. When I had the D70, I went on a two day course run by Nikon which was all about getting the best from that particular camera. They run a similar course for the D80 so if there is a Nikon training centre in your area, that would be another suggestion...
I've just checked the betterphoto.com website and they have a course specifically on the D80. Here is the link:.

Hi Kim..
This might be more than you are interested in but the Academy of Art University in San Francisco (http://www.academyart.edu/) has a fantastic online program. A few years back I took a basic digital photography class and a Photoshop class and loved it so much that I've since enrolled to their MFA program. The beginning level classes really have photographers at all skill levels and start with the basics so that everyone interested can feel comfortable with the material covered. All of their instructors are working professionals, are all very supportive and are all around great people to work with..
Best of luck with what ever route you choose..
Mike..
Academy of Art looks good, but it is about $1800 a class?.

Kim,.
I completed an A-Level Photography course a few years back (2001-2003). Fantastic fun, evenings once a week at the local Tech College, great mix of people, grizzled ex-pro for a lecturer and all course work based so lots of projects to do..
Only problem was it was mostly black and white/darkroom - ie non-digital. I'd still recommend this to anybody today as a great place to start but you may be looking for something else. I would have thought that the syllabus would have moved forward some 5 years later to reflect the digital age..
As well as the standard of the course being just about right for me at the time, the best thing was you were with the same people for two years and so lasting friendships can be made..
I havent found anything since that would be a suitable step forward that I could fit into a busy life..
Good luck...
